When was the last time you started or ended a ride when it was getting dark, or in the fog, and you were wondering if autos could see you well?
Quick-handling, light and supple, the LIT Ultra Reflective Tire is the successful result of a crowd funded project that Elevengear was proud to be a part of. What LIT has designed and executed is a useful, high visibility product with great style.
By day it’s a great performing, puncture-resistant road tire with great grip and road feel. But at night, with a light shining on it, the wide reflective sidewall throws light right back with amazing brilliance.
Ready for the wonky specs? The tire is 700x28C, which should fit in all but the most finicky road frames, 127 threads per inch casing, and here’s the zinger … a 9 mm highly-reflective sidewall which is well-visible down to ~5° yaw (see accompanying image). Recommended max inflation is 100 PSI, which for a 28C tire is more than enough for any normal application. It’s not exactly a racing tire, but at 248 grams and a folding bead it offers very good performance. On a normal (20 mm) rim, the tire is 26 mm wide and 24.5 mm high. On a wide rim (23 mm Hed Ardennes et al), we measure the tire out at 28 mm wide and 26 mm high. The LIT Ultra Reflective Tire is designed in Portland USA and fabricated in the Czech republic.
